How to Find People on Social Media Platforms

As social media platforms become more and more popular, the process of finding people you know on these platforms becomes easier. However, for those not familiar with how to find people on social media, the task can seem daunting.

In this article, we will outline some steps that can be taken to find people on social media platforms. We will also provide tips for finding people who are not already in your network. Finally, we will discuss some of the benefits of connecting with others on social media platforms.

Do a Facebook Search

One of the easiest ways to find people on Facebook is by using the search feature on the platform. Begin by opening a new web browser and going to Facebook.

From there, type in keywords describing who you would like to find (i.e., those who work at Acme Corp). If what you are searching for appears as a specific name, Facebook can be configured to display results as such rather than as general matches (more on this later – see below). You can also choose whether or not Facebook should only display people you are directly connected with or include any possible matches (i.e., friends of friends).

After typing in the criteria, click the search button to search through your Facebook network. Results will show people who are associated with your network or possible matches (see below), depending upon whether or not you have configured search preferences. Once you find an individual who might be what you are looking for, send a friend request and go from there!

If Facebook does not provide any results that match your specific criteria, consider broadening your search by including keywords that describe who you are looking for rather than just those keywords, which would narrow down a list of potential individuals on Facebook.

For example, if you wish to find Mary Smith who works at Acme Corp, adding “Mary Smith” as a keyword to your search would allow Facebook to provide more relevant results. Of course, if the person is not associated with any of your friends, this method will most likely not give you any useful results at all.

Look for Names on Other Socials

One of the ways to find someone on Tiktok or Twitter is simply to search for their names. While many use handles, others use their real names. This search is a bit more difficult on Tiktok since you must be following someone in order to see their profile.

However, if it is a real name that you are searching for, the chances are good that the person utilizes their real name rather than a handle. Twitter will allow you to search through all profiles available without the need to be actively connected with another user. In other words, simply type in someone’s name and see what pops up!

Check Out LinkedIn Profiles

Another way to find people on social media is by going directly to where they might have a presence – LinkedIn. Open a new web browser and go directly to Linkedin.

Once there, use the same keywords as above (i.e., search for people who work at Acme Corp). Once again, you can choose to narrow down your results by specifying that Facebook displays only those individuals who are in your network or all possible matches.

In this case, you may receive a great deal of LinkedIn profiles from which to choose. Pick the one that seems most suited to what you are looking for and click on the “Send InMail” button, which is located underneath the “Send Message” box. InMail is similar to regular mail, except that others cannot see it until the recipient has accepted the message. You have 1,000 free messages each month so use them wisely!

Instead of messaging people directly through LinkedIn, explore who might be connections of those that you already know. This is a great way to expand your social media presence and keep your name out there for others to see!

Conclusion

Social media can be a valuable tool when it comes to finding people. First, identify the social platform(s) that matter the most to you, conduct your search based on relevant keywords, and explore who might be connected to those individuals whom you are already acquainted with.
