And it doesn’t just stop at writing. There are even programmes that can create artwork or other forms of imagery.
Some of these creations are incredible and are done in a much quicker timeframe than any human could manage.
But this obviously has some drawbacks. It’s made people worried that soon, these AI technologies could take over as the primary content creators and that we wouldn’t have any need for humans to be creating this type of content.
The fear is that soon, people would become a more expensive and slower way to produce content.
What Does This Mean For The Future Of Content Creation?
So, the question everyone seems to be asking is, will AI take over from human writers, editors and artists? It seems unlikely. Despite the abilities of these programmes, they still can’t do everything.
Even though AI is good at creating content, it still isn’t great. There is still a disconnect between the content and its audience – it’s lacking that human element, you might say.
It lacks empathy, social context and any form of emotional intelligence which is what is needed if you want to be producing content that resonates well with people.
Of course, we can try and program in the social context elements into the programme, but it’s still going to be different from human experience.
Another issue is that if companies across the board are using the same AI programmes to create their content, it’s all going to end up sounding the same.
Whereas using different human copywriters and editors are going to get very different results.
Even the same human writing similar content is going to deviate from what they’ve written previously.
As companies rely more and more on authentic and relatable content, it makes less sense to be using AI to generate it. There’s nothing relatable about a robot.
How Can We Use AI Effectively?
So, where does this leave us? Obviously, this technology hasn’t been created just for it to be thrown out again.
There is a way to use this technology in order to help the human writers and creators so that they are more productive.
AI is great for brainstorming or creating strategies. It can help you think up ideas when you’re in a bit of a writing funk.
It’s a great way to start off the writing process or to set up the outline for an email that you’re trying to create.
Using AI chatbots is a great way to reword a difficult sentence that you can’t get your head around.
It’s also great for writing some short form content such as meta titles or meta descriptions that need to be more clinical and detached.
There is definitely a time and a place for AI generated content but it doesn’t necessarily have to be one or the other.
We can utilize these tools to make our lives easier rather than having them take entire jobs from people.
Then it becomes just another tool that we learn to use such as Google Analytics or even Spell Check.
The aim of the game should be to work cohesively with these AI tools rather than having us pitted against one another.
AI is a great piece of technology that can work well as a writer’s help tool. It can do the outlines or provide prompts if you’re feeling stuck.
Thankfully, we’re no closer to a time where robots do everything for us but they’re always there to lend a helping hand.
