The novel coronavirus has caused many people to resort to a state of panic, with one consequence being panic-buying. In fact, it’s so prevalent at this point that it’s become a popular meme on social media, as young TikTok users in Australia turn to the social media sharing platform to mock those who are stripping supermarkets of toilet paper stock.

TikTok is full of fun content that spurs viral challenges and sharing with the greater community. However, it also has a dark side as well. One aspect of this dark side is drug-taking. Recently, it was found that there are now hundreds of videos that glamorize and glorify drug-taking, which is, in turn, teaching children how to take illicit substances, including ketamine and MDMA.

The U.S. government has reached out to TikTok in an attempt to stay on top of disinformation on social media sharing apps. As well as being increasingly popular among teens, the social media sharing app that’s owned by a Chinese company is also known for sharing its political memes as well. A press call occurred on Super Tuesday, with the main topic being election security.

It wasn’t that long ago that almost nobody was making money on TikTok, one of the world’s most popular social media sharing apps. However, now that it is growing exponentially, brands are descending in droves as they attempt to make the most of this brand new marketing space.
